Greylevel transforms

Short tutorial

The applet allows you to interactively see the effect of changing a graylevel transform function. For each pixel in the image, the pixel intensity, i, is transformed according to the transform function, T[i]. The transform function is the same across the entire image. This is often called a global gray level transform. Effectively we are changing the contrast of the image.

Applet instructions

Click the images on the upper right to change the image being processed. You can alter the parameters in the functions mapping the gray level values using the two bottom slidebars. In "Free paint" mode you simply hold down the left mousebutton while painting the function in the figure depicting the transform function.
